Why does a rise in current-dollar GDP not necessarily imply equally large real growth?
Note
Growth in current-dollar GDP alone cannot establish an equivalent increase in real production.
Current-dollar values combine price and quantity changes. If inflation explains part of a nominal rise, the inflation-adjusted change in actual output will be smaller. Price adjustments are essential for distinguishing inflation from expanding production.
