What limits a comparison of nominal GDP across two years?
Note
Comparing nominal GDP at different dates requires recognizing that prices may change between those dates.
If prices rise while the quantity of goods and services stays unchanged, current-dollar GDP increases without real growth. Use inflation-adjusted measures for analysis of production volumes over time. A rigorous time comparison reports current-dollar and real values, using a clearly identified price basis.
