How should a future sea-level rise projection be interpreted?
Note
Sea-level rise projections describe possible future conditions under stated assumptions, not exact forecasts for one site.
A projection depends on emission pathways, ice-sheet behavior, local land movement, and modeling uncertainty. It represents conditional possible futures rather than a precise prediction of one unavoidable water level. Local land movement and storm conditions can change consequences even under the same regional projection.
