Why is Hawaii called a noncontiguous U.S. state?
Note
Hawaii is a noncontiguous U.S. state because it is not physically connected to the contiguous 48 states.
The islands have different sizes, populations, and geological ages, so one island should never be treated as representative of the whole state.
