Why is New Jersey state GDP different from New York metropolitan GDP?
Note
GDP reported for the State of New Jersey is a different geographic measure from GDP for the New York metropolitan area.
State GDP covers economic production within New Jersey's legal boundaries; metro GDP covers a functional urban region that may cross several state lines. Their totals answer different geographic questions. State and metro datasets should be compared only after their boundaries are defined.
