Why might employment sector totals and industry GDP tables disagree in coverage?
Note
Industry employment and GDP tables can employ differing sector definitions and classification systems.
A payroll industry study may classify workers using NAICS categories, while GDP accounts assign value added using related but not identical definitions. Coverage dates, government sectors, proprietors, and data sources may differ. Crosswalks and classification notes can explain differences without assuming one source is wrong.
