Georgia's Coastal Plain can be subdivided into Upper and Lower Coastal Plain areas.

These subdivisions help describe differences within one broad province. The Coastal Plain covers a large area, so a single regional name does not imply identical soils, land use, or coastal influence everywhere within it.
