When did colonial Georgia permit slavery after overturning its prohibition?
Note
Georgia's colonial prohibition on Black slavery was overturned, with slavery permitted from January 1, 1751.
The earlier prohibition did not last throughout colonial rule. Its reversal helped reshape Georgia's labor system and plantation economy; this should not be confused with emancipation, which ended legal slavery much later.
