The newspaper "The Tribune" was founded by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia in Lahore (now in Pakistan) in 1881. The Tribune is a daily newspaper that is published in English and is widely respected for its high journalistic standards and its impartial reporting.

In 1966, The Tribune's base was again shifted, this time to Chandigarh, which had recently been declared the capital of Punjab and Haryana and was becoming an important center of political and economic activity. The Tribune has continued to be published from Chandigarh to this day and remains an influential and respected newspaper in India.
