The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States and a symbol of freedom and democracy. It stands on Liberty Island, which is located just off the southern tip of Manhattan in New York City. Visitors can take a ferry to the island to view the statue and its surrounding area. The other cities listed—Boston, Charleston, and Miami—are not home to the Statue of Liberty.
