Which two battles comprised the Saratoga campaign?
Note
The Saratoga campaign consisted of two pivotal battles Freeman's Farm and Bemis Heights.
The first combat, which took place on September 19, 1777, was the first instance in which American soldiers persevered against British troops in the face of reverses. The Americans went on to win the succeeding battle at Bemis Heights on October 7, which greatly improved their tactics and morale. After a series of confrontations, British General John Burgoyne finally submitted, which not only signaled a turning point in the Revolutionary War but also received important international backing for the American cause, especially from France.
