The Wasatch Fault is a major geological feature in the Basin and Range Province.

Primarily situated along the Wasatch Range in Utah, the Wasatch Fault is integral to the region's tectonic dynamics. Spanning over 240 miles, it is characterized by frequent seismic activity resulting from extensional forces that are causing the Earth's crust to pull apart. This fault delineates the elevated Wasatch Mountains from the surrounding lower valleys and has significantly contributed to the mountainous landscape typical of the Basin and Range Province. Additionally, it presents a considerable earthquake risk to nearby urban areas, including Salt Lake City, due to the tectonic stress present in the region.
