What role did artillery play in the battle?
Note
Artillery played a mostly ineffective role in the Battle of Bunker Hill, primarily due to the terrain and the nature of the engagement.
Both British and American forces were equipped with cannons, but their effectiveness was limited by factors like distance, accuracy, and the defensive setup of American troops on Breed's Hill. The Americans primarily employed infantry tactics, making use of cover and fortified defensive lines instead of prioritizing artillery. Furthermore, British artillery faced challenges in accurately targeting the well-entrenched American positions. As a result, although artillery was available, it had little impact on the battle's outcome, with infantry maneuvers ultimately being the decisive factor.
