Note
The Magnolia is the state flower of Mississippi, chosen for its beauty and abundance throughout the state.
The Magnolia, which is renowned for its big, fragrant white blossoms, was designated as Mississippi's official state flower in 1952. Given the abundance of magnolia trees throughout Mississippi, this flower represents the state's natural beauty and verdant surroundings. The magnolia, which was chosen by a schoolchildren's vote in 1900 and subsequently formally accepted, is a symbol of the region's classic beauty and Southern charm. It is a veritable Mississippi emblem due to its extensive use in gardens, forests, and even cityscapes. To further highlight the magnolia's cultural and ecological significance to Magnolia State, it is also depicted on the state quarter.
