Note
The Coastal Plains were formed by tectonic movements and sea level changes.
Over millions of years, geological movements and variations in sea level created the Coastal Plains. The land moved and settled as a result of tectonic action, forming low-lying, level regions that are perfect for a variety of ecosystems. Sediment was deposited as sea levels varied as a result of climate change, further sculpting the terrain. Wetlands, estuaries, and sandy beaches are all part of the varied environment that was produced by this process. The resulting topography supports agricultural and human settlements while offering wildlife habitats, making it of great ecological significance. It is easier to appreciate the Coastal Plains' distinctive terrain and the natural riches they provide when one is aware of how they were formed.
