What is the highest peak in the Rockies?
Note
Mount Elbert, located in Colorado, is the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains.
Mount Elbert, rising to 14,433 feet (4,401 meters) above sea level, claims the title of the Rockies' highest peak. Situated in the Sawatch Range of Colorado, it's part of the San Isabel National Forest. Unlike some jagged peaks, Elbert has a gentler, rounded profile, making it a popular, though still challenging, climb. It's important not to confuse it with Mount Whitney (Sierra Nevada), Denali (Alaska Range), or Pikes Peak (also in Colorado but lower). Elbert's prominence makes it a significant landmark in the North American landscape.
