What is a tsunami?
Note
A tsunami is a giant wave caused by earthquakes or volcanic activity.
A tsunami is a powerful series of waves generated by significant disturbances in or under the ocean, such as underwater earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or landslides. These events displace a massive volume of water, which travels across the ocean at incredible speeds. As the waves approach coastal areas, they slow down but grow in height, becoming potentially destructive and devastating. Tsunamis can cause extensive flooding and loss of life when they make landfall. The Pacific Coast, situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, is particularly vulnerable to tsunamis due to frequent seismic activity in the region.
