Note
The Battle of the Bulge had a significant influence on future military strategies by emphasizing the importance of air power in modern warfare.
The inability of Allied air support to adequately background troops and conduct air operations against German forces throughout the fight was initially caused by unfavorable weather conditions. But as the weather cleared, Allied air power was essential in cutting off German supplies, supporting ground forces from the air, and changing the course of the conflict. The need to preserve air superiority and incorporate air power into ground operations was highlighted by this experience. As a result, military tactics in later conflicts came to acknowledge the importance of air forces in winning battles and influenced how combined arms operations would be conducted in the future.
