Tecumseh was a prominent Shawnee leader in the early 1800s who fiercely resisted U.S. expansion into Native American territories.

He sought to unite various tribes to form a confederation that could effectively oppose encroachment on their lands. Tecumseh believed that a united front was essential for preserving Native American culture and sovereignty. His efforts included forming alliances with other tribes and even the British during the War of 1812. Despite his leadership and vision, Tecumseh’s resistance ultimately faced significant challenges, and he was killed in battle in 1813, which marked a turning point in Native American resistance efforts.
