A parallelogram has base 16 cm and height 13 cm. What is its area?
Note
Area of a parallelogram = base × height = 16 × 13 = 208 cm². Use the vertical height, not the slanted side, because area depends on base and perpendicular height. A parallelogram can be rearranged into a rectangle with the same base and vertical height. That is why multiplying base by perpendicular height gives its area, and the answer uses square units.
