Kernavė is an archaeological complex in Lithuania with remains of settlement and hillforts spanning from the Neolithic through the medieval period. It served as an important political and cultural center in early Lithuanian history and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its value in illustrating settlement development and fortified sites (piliakalniai). The site provides key evidence about early state formation before the rise of Vilnius.
