The Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge is the largest wildlife refuge in the Sonoran Desert, covering approximately 860,000 acres in southwestern Arizona.

Established in 1939, Cabeza Prieta serves as a protected area for many endangered species, including the Sonoran pronghorn. The refuge features rugged mountains, arid plains, and diverse desert habitats, supporting a wide range of flora and fauna adapted to extreme conditions. It is also part of the United States–Mexico borderlands conservation region, playing a crucial role in preserving the delicate Sonoran Desert ecosystem.
