The Snake River is one of the major rivers that flow through the Great Basin.

The Snake River flows through the northwestern part of the Great Basin, primarily in Idaho. It is one of the few rivers in the region that eventually empties into the Columbia River, not the Pacific Ocean, due to the Great Basin's closed drainage system. The Mississippi River, Colorado River, and Columbia River do not flow through the Great Basin, as their watersheds are located in different regions of North America.
