Maine has the second longest Atlantic coastline in the U.S. after Florida.

Maine's coastline is well-known for its high cliffs, many bays, and more than 4,600 islands, all of which add to its vast length. Due to its irregular geography, Maine ranks second in terms of the total tidal shoreline along the Atlantic, although Florida's coastline is longer because of its peninsular shape.
